Inner Work

For the week of: November 11, 2002

Daily Prayer

Prayer can open a gap in our walls of self-centeredness. In praying, we address the Transcendent through the direct channel between the Divine and our innermost self. We may legitimately pray from our surface desires and fears. Or we may delve beneath our ordinary thoughts and emotions toward faith, harbinger of the Divine. Regardless of the level of our prayer, in the act of praying the sacred calls to us.

Daily repetition gradually deepens our relationship with the Holy One. So we pray with our heart and soul. We pray with the whole force of our being, sending the rarefied substance of our prayers up toward the Divine, even as the very act of praying purifies our heart.

For this week, pray every day.
