Wishful Thinking

We all need realistic goals and the hope of attaining them. But our ego tends to turn this upside down, creating unachievable goals toward which we make no real effort. So in the place of steady efforts toward real goals, we indulge in wishful thinking, daydreaming about how one day our boat will come in, how the big stroke of luck will transform our life in a blazing moment of glory. In the meantime, we plod our way through our daily rounds, secretly nurturing unrealistic dreams, and waiting for it all to just happen. Such wishful thinking paralyzes us, substituting an imaginary life for our actual life, and preventing us from achieving what we could.

For this week, observe the role of wishful thinking in your life.
