Inner Work

For the week of: January 6, 2003

Potential

We define ourselves by our patterns, by how we act and think, by the routines of our daily environment. We get up, brush our teeth, read the paper, eat breakfast, go to work, come home, eat dinner, and so on, day after day. The pattern extends also to our inner life, to the level of our inner work. Beneath these patterns of our life, our potential remains hidden.

What is possible for me? What is my highest potential? How can I work toward achieving it? Can I do more, inwardly or outwardly? Have my patterns become ruts, entrapping me in my personal mediocrity? How can I step into a new day? How can I make more of the patterns I live in?
