Inner Work For the week of: April 14, 2003 When Is "I" Substantial? We say and think “I” numerous times every day. Usually it simply,
and somewhat vaguely, denotes either our body or our personality. As such, the
word “I” has no more weight than words like “car,” “bread,” or
“tree.” In fact, if we examine closely what we mean by “I,” we find no
definite meaning at all. On some occasions, though, when we say or think
“I,” it has real substance, the force of our will,
behind it.
For this week, notice how you use the word “I.” See what it would mean to have the weight of your full presence engaged in
saying “I.”
