Appreciation
Indifference drains all the color from life. We tend to walk through our
days with only a minimal contact with the life around us, our hearts encrusted
by a ho-hum attitude: been there, done that, seen it all before. But an
inescapable truth tells us that our days on this Earth are all too limited; each
day we live means one less day left to live. This timeless truth can pierce our
crust and soften our heart. We can live differently, relishing each day, each
person, each living thing, each experience, and each opportunity. Appreciating
our life, appreciating others, we live more fully, more responsibly, and more
kindly. The ephemeral in our personal system of values evaporates, leaving
behind the eternal values at the core of life.
For this week, notice the extent to which you appreciate your life and
the life around you.
