The Axial Attention Exercise

(The Reality of Attention 1)

  1. Letting go and relaxing into our body.
  2. As we relax, the sensation throughout our body comes to the foreground. Be with that
  3. If you find it helpful, begin drawing the active elements from the air into your body, to build up the sensation throughout the body. Drawing in these shimmering particles of energy with your attention, pulling them in, sucking them into your body.
  4. As you drawn in the active elements from the air to build up the sensation in your body, also have it build up a warmth of feeling in your chest and a clarity of cognition in your mind.
  5. As you work with feeding your threefold nature, inhabit your body, heart, and mind, so that you are here to receive these energies, these active elements, as you draw them in.
  6. Let go of the drawing of the active elements, come into your center, this central attention, this attention that arises from deep within you, attention that you only need to open to.
  7. Let this attention occupy your core and your periphery, occupy the whole of yourself.
  8. Thoughts are quickly absorbed by this pure attention.
  9. You remain whole in this axis of attention.
  10. This attention sees everything. And in that seeing, makes you whole.
  11. You are this attention. This is your I.
  12. This axial attention flows from your Source, your sacred Source, deep within you. A continuous flow.
  13. As you open to your sacred Source, perhaps that high energy showers down into you.
  14. You let this source, this sacred Source, fill you. Fill you with presence. Fill you with your I.
  15. Renewing that connection with this Source, with this flow of attention, and letting it occupy the whole of you.
  16. This inner Sun shines in all of us.
  17. As you finish the sitting, carry this forward into your life.
