(Being Real: 7)

If you delve into where your attention comes from, into the roots of your will, into that in you that chooses, if you lean back far enough into yourself, you will discover your source, our common source, in the One Will behind us all. You will discover that your and our essential nature is Love.

In quiet presence, when everything settles down, when we settle down, and presence becomes simple being, and we feel not that we are the one being present, but that presence just is, in that moment it is the Sacred One Who is present in us, through us, as us. When presence abides, with us awake but not occupying our center, then it is God who is present. True presence has no center, thus allowing the Higher to be present. When we are still, it is God Whose stillness that is. To see this, take it as if it were true and look.

This is the shoreline between the timeless and time, between the human and the Divine. That shoreline, where the Ocean of Heaven meets the Earth, meets all the earths, is the place of our destiny, our spiritual work, the place from which all meaning emanates, the place where the Sacred waters can flow through us and into time. God enters us there.

This is not an outsider coming to us, a visitor from the beyond. God is our very Self. We are not separate, God and us, and by the same token, we are not separate, you and me. We drop into the depth, where there is but One Will, Who, by entering time, individuates uniquely into you and into me. Look past time, behind yourself and into the eyes of another person, and you will see your brother, your sister.

May blessings flow.

  1. Sitting in a quiet place, relax into your body. One approach to relaxation is from the outside in: relaxing the right arm, then the right leg, the left leg, the left arm, the abdomen, the whole torso, the neck, the face, the head, one a time. Then moving inward to relax our emotions and our mind and finally our self. We can also approach relaxation from the inside out: relaxing our self, relaxing our grip on being ourselves, relaxing the grip of our self-centered, center-of-the-world ego. The mind, feelings, and body relax naturally along with that. Choose an approach, outside-in or inside-out, and work with that mode of relaxation.
  2. Shift into being in the sensation throughout your body.
  3. As you inhale, use your attention to draw the energies from the air into you. As you exhale, let them spread throughout, building up the sensation in your body, the feeling in your chest, and the cognition in your mind.
  4. Inhabit the whole of yourself, as you continue drawing the energies from the air.
  5. Leaving aside the drawing of the energies from the air, maintain this total presence. In this presence, move from being a collection of parts to being an integrated whole.
  6. Drop into and abide in stillness. The stillness needed here is not necessarily the stillness of mind. Thoughts may continue arising and passing. The key stillness is the stillness of self, the stillness of will. Letting go of being who we think we are. Letting go of being anything at all. Just sitting. Just being.
  7. In this stillness, as this stillness, our boundaries dissolved, we are the All. With nothing in the way, no ego occupying that space, we return to our common home.
  8. This open space is the interface, the shoreline between Heaven and Earth, between us and the Divine.
  9. Here we, our Individuality, no longer in separateness, return to our Source, embraced by the Great Heart of the World and imbued with Freedom. The ascent of our Individuality and the descent of the Sacred meet on this shore.
  10. We abide in that shoreline, with our I, our Self, merging with the All. Here, our root, our Self, is the Sacred.
  11. This Unity includes us all. This Unity is Love.
