Only This Moment
Although our body can only inhabit this present moment, our mind, heart, and attention continually lean toward the future or fall into the past. Anticipating the future and reliving the past create a ghostly, dreamlike pseudo-existence that draws us away from our only reality: this one moment. At times we even intentionally escape from some unavoidable unpleasantness or boredom by inwardly drifting away. If instead we bring the full force of our intention
to being, experiencing, and acting in this one moment, in all its sensory dimensions, we immediately live more deeply and fully. In place of the thinness of the not-now, we discover the richness of this one moment, we discover our real life.
For this week, practice enriching your life by coming back to this one moment, wholeheartedly, whole-bodily, and whole-mindedly.
